Wildlife Photography? Come Along to My Beginners’ Workshop

There’s a particular kind of frustration that comes with wildlife photography. You’re out enjoying a walk, you spot a bird you’d love to photograph, and by the time you’ve worked out where your camera is focusing, it’s gone. If that sounds familiar, you’re exactly the sort of person I had in mind when I put together my new beginners’ wildlife photography workshop.

You don’t need to arrive knowing all the camera settings. Perhaps you’ve recently bought a camera and want to do more with it, or perhaps yours has been set to auto for years. You might already enjoy photographing wildlife but find that the results don’t quite match what you saw. That’s a perfectly good place to start.

I run photography workshops because I enjoy helping people make sense of their cameras while they’re actually using them. We’ll be outdoors, looking for opportunities to photograph wildlife and taking the time to work through the things that come up along the way. If your camera won’t focus where you want it to, or you’re unsure why a photograph hasn’t worked, you can ask me there and then. Those are often the moments when things begin to click.

You’re welcome whatever brand of camera you use. What matters is that you want to get outside, have a go and build your confidence. There’s no pressure to come home with the perfect photograph. Wildlife has its own plans anyway, which is part of what makes photographing it so rewarding.

Living and working in North Yorkshire, I’m lucky to have wonderful places for wildlife photography within reach across Yorkshire and the North East. My aim with this workshop is to help you enjoy those opportunities more, whether you’re visiting a nature reserve or heading out with your camera closer to home.

If you’ve been thinking, “I’d love to try wildlife photography, but I wouldn’t know where to begin,” come and join me. Have a look at my Wildlife Photography Workshops page for the details of the new beginners’ workshop. I’d be glad to help you get started.
