Beginners Wildlife Photography Workshop, RSPB Salthome 27th September 2026
Time : 9:30am - 1:30pm
Cost £50 per student
Take your wildlife photography beyond the basics with this immersive, hands-on workshop led by professional wildlife photographer Stu Brown.
Designed for photographers who are ready to build confidence in the field, this relaxed experience focuses on photographing wildlife responsibly while developing the skills needed to capture stunning images in real-world situations.
Rather than spending the day in a classroom, you'll head out onto the reserve to put your camera into action. Learn how to choose the right settings for changing conditions, master autofocus and subject tracking, improve exposure, photograph birds in flight and moving wildlife, refine your composition, and make the most of natural light.
A key part of the workshop is developing essential fieldcraft. Discover how to observe wildlife, anticipate behaviour, approach subjects ethically and understand when it's best not to take the shot. With wildlife welfare at its heart, there's no better place to learn than an RSPB nature reserve.
Beyond the technical skills, the workshop offers the chance to slow down, immerse yourself in nature and enjoy the wellbeing benefits of spending time outdoors. Wildlife photography is as much about patience, observation and connection with the natural world as it is about the images you create.
Each participant will also receive Stu Brown's professionally produced Wildlife Photography Field Guide to take home. Packed with practical camera settings, fieldcraft techniques, focusing tips, exposure advice, birds-in-flight guidance, composition, wildlife ethics, mini projects and space for your own field notes, it's the perfect companion to continue your photography journey. Whether you're hoping to capture your first sharp bird in flight or simply want to get more from your camera while enjoying a day surrounded by wildlife, this friendly, supportive workshop is designed to help you learn, practise, ask questions and leave inspired.
