As a landscape photographer in the North East, few places stir my soul like Redcar Beach. There’s something raw and alive about this stretch of coastline — the endless sands, the ever-changing skies, and the sound of waves crashing against the shore. Every time I set foot here, I feel that familiar surge of excitement, knowing the landscape will offer something entirely new to capture.

There’s a unique charm in photographing landscapes under a dreary, overcast sky. South Gare, Redcar, with its rugged coastline and industrial heritage, takes on a moody and atmospheric quality when the evening clouds roll in. Such conditions can often be overlooked by photographers chasing golden hour light, but a dreary evening offers a different kind of beauty that’s just as compelling.

Thornwick Bay, nestled on the rugged Yorkshire coast, offers a spectacular playground for landscape photographers seeking dramatic seascapes and natural beauty. Known for its chalk cliffs and sweeping beach, the location provides a variety of compelling compositions that change with the tide, weather, and light.

The afternoon light bathed Marsden Rock in a golden hue, casting long shadows across the rugged coastline. With my camera in hand, I set out to capture its grandeur, feeling the gentle breeze carry the salty scent of the sea.

Capturing the Beauty of Sandsend Beach in North Yorkshire

Sandsend Beach, located along the North Yorkshire coastline, is a hidden gem for landscape photographers. With its sweeping sandy shores, charming village, and dramatic cliffs, Sandsend offers a picturesque setting perfect for capturing stunning coastal images.

The wind was biting, the air crisp and fresh. It was a cold evening at Marsden Rock, where nature's rugged beauty awaited my lens. As a landscape photographer, I thrive on the challenges and rewards of capturing the essence of such remarkable locations, no matter the weather.

Skinningrove Beach, located on the North Yorkshire coast, is a stunning location known for its rugged beauty, dramatic cliffs, and unique rock formations. As photographers, we are always in search of breath taking settings to capture through our lenses, and Skinningrove Beach offers an abundance of photographic opportunities.

This is the only second time I’ve visited Flamborough Head. The first was a pre-wedding photo shoot back a couple of years ago. The sun was shining, the seal were sunbathing alongside half of north yorkshire as we all basked in the 30 degree heat.

Staithes is a quaint little fishing harbour village on the North Yorkshire Coast and is apart of the North York Moors National Park. It offers tight street, alleyways and a lovely harbour. All perfect for a Landscape Photography Workshop.

Sometimes ist nice to step away from the constant working machine of a business and just be! And sometimes, just sometimes the light is just right. More times than not its not, but just sometimes!

Thomason Foss is nestled in a quaint little valley, this time of year we struggled with the access. Ive never seen it so muddy. Safety of my students has always been top priority, I had walked the path the day before to reccy the route.

A bitterly cold February evening in Robin Hoods Bay, North Yorkshire. The waves beating a harrowing sound crashing into the sea wall, creating an audience on the key side.

Clitherbeck is just off the Danby road, thousands of locals, tourist even farmer’s will pass over this little bridge a day. They probably have no idea there is such a quite and quaint little beck running down from the moors and into the woodland.

It’s a secret, hidden, north east escape, Its called Skinningrove. It’s also somewhere people don’t really think to photograph or explore. Yet it been one of my favourite places since I was a child. The beach, the sea, the cliffs and the people who live there are amazing in their own right.

The Wainstones, Situated in the North York Moors National Park hold such a menacing cliff face, over looking Teesside and the the fabulous Rosebery Topping. It sits long a beautiful hill top walk from the view point on the Helmsley road.

Saltburn is probably my local photographic town. Living just 2 miles away its an easy escape with the camera. Its almost the most photographed place in the area too. In fact I’d say its being photographed to death.

A difficult one to find this, but with a little guess work and tramping and there it was. There wasn’t too much water running the day I went and the scrambling over the rock I think would be bad with lots of water. However they did offer a great frame for the waterfall.

On my many waterfall hunting sessions, This one was a little difficult. To grab this image meant walking through the slippery rocks of West Beck, which later turns in of the River Esk. To the other side then a precarious climb down the rock at the waterfall level.

I must of walked this path a million times literally speaking. My children have played in the beck and i’ve watched dippers, wagtails bob between rocks catching insects as they go.

Growing up in neighbouring Carlin How, Skiningrove beach has featured many times throughout my life for varying reasons. Has a teenager I used to run up and down the length of the beach, in my later teen years into adult life I’ve watched deer, Barn Owls and the Fulmars nestled away on the man made cliff.
